Members of The Fellowship will be electing new National Board members in May. The Nominations Committee has completed its work and submits the following report for consideration.

There are two modifications to our process this year. Normally, the Nominations Committee is charged with nominating two candidates for each of the four elected positions: President-Elect, Vice-President of Administration, Vice-President of Community, and Vice-President of Content. However, for the roles of Vice President of Content and President-Elect , the 2025-2027 nominations team chose to present one highly-qualified candidate for each of those positions. The Nominations Committee requested and received a Standing Rules suspension from the Executive Board, to allow them to only nominate one candidate. All other positions include two candidates.

Current Ministry and Setting: Director of Music Ministries, Trinity UMC, Birmingham, AL I am honored to be considered for the role of President-Elect of The Fellowship of Worship Artists. My love for The Fellowship began when I first attended Music Week in 2014, and I have been passionate about serving and supporting its work ever since. This organization and the relationships I’ve formed through it have been truly transformative for me. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and Choral Conducting, which have shaped my ability to teach, lead, and empower others. As a church musician, I have spent my career fostering artistic excellence while ensuring worship remains an inclusive and formative experience. I believe my visionary leadership, organizational skills, and collaborative spirit would serve The Fellowship well. My gifts in strategic planning, program development, and team-building align with the mission of this organization, and I am eager to help shape its future. If elected, I would work to strengthen connections, resource our members, and champion the evolving role of worship artists in the church and beyond. I would be honored to serve and help guide this Fellowship into its next chapter.

Kathy Evans

Current Ministry and Setting: Director of Worship Arts, Cookeville First UMC, Cookeville, TN I most recently served as Director of Music Ministries at First United Methodist Church, Cookeville, Tennessee. I am semi-retired and now serve as the Director of Worship Arts at Cookeville First and teach Early Childhood Music Classes to 35+ children each week. I have fifty-plus years of experience as a church musician and educator, serving churches in Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. During my teaching career I have taught at the collegiate, secondary and elementary level and maintained a private piano studio. I have been a member of The Fellowship since 1986 and have served in several leadership roles in the Florida Chapter. I served as a clinician with children, youth, and organ at the state and national level, served as Chair of the Design Team for Music & Worship Arts Week at Lake Junaluska, and served on the National Council of The Fellowship. My educational experiences from MTSU and UTC along with valuable involvement in The Fellowship have enhanced my organizational and leadership skills. Those skills along with institutional knowledge of The Fellowship are positive attributes for leadership in the upcoming years. My greatest accomplishments are my three children and three grandchildren!

Rev. Harriet Wilkin

Current Ministry and Setting: Senior Pastor at Grahamsville UMC and Sundown UMC, New York I have been involved at many levels of church ministry for nearly 30 years. My background includes worship design, preaching, administration, management, leadership, and communications (online, print media, and in person). I started my church ministry work with children and youth, and to this day encourage children and youth to be involved in various aspects of the worship service from public speaking to worship design. My expertise is in organizing, planning, and implantation of programs and projects. I like to be creative and to think outside the box. I bring a pastoral presence when in conversation and in my ministry work. I incorporate different learning styles in your worship design. I support and advocate for First Responders, Veterans, and for people with disabilities. My late husband was a First Responder and Veteran. As a spouse of a First Responder and Veteran, and now as a widow, I understand PTSD and how injury shapes retirement, life and marriage. I have my Master of Divinity Degree from Claremont School of Theology. I have a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Critical Communications.

Rev. Joe Lee

Current Ministry and Setting: Minister of Music, East End UMC; Artistic Director, Major Minors I am a provisional Deacon in the Pacific Northwest Conference of the United Methodist Church and will move forward toward ordination in 2026. I received a Bachelor of Music from Vanderbilt University, where I studied bassoon, cello, voice, and conducting, and I recently completed my Master of Divinity at Claremont School of Theology in Los Angeles. I have two, primary, cross-conference appointments; I am the Artistic Director of Major Minors, a chorus for LGBTQIAP+ and allied youth, and I am the Minister of Music at East End UMC in Nashville, a congregation that I have served for 22 years. At East End, I lead the choir, hand bell ensemble, orchestra, and acoustic group. I also participate in worship design and often lead/create non-musical elements of worship; I even preach a few times per year! The Fellowship has been such an incredible and positive influence on me, and I would be honored to give back to the organization by serving in the role of VP of Community. I am a music maker, a bridge builder, a community builder, a social justice activist, and a champion of human rights. If elected to the position, I will commit to empowering many voices and perspectives regarding building community within our organization. In addition to creating spiritual, educational, and social opportunities for members, I will also seek to help make Fellowship events safe spaces for all attendees.

Rev. Dr. Sherri E. Wood-Powe

Current Ministry and Setting: Pastor, Covenant UMC, Montgomery Village, MD I am an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church with over 30 years of pastoral experience. I hold two degrees with worship concentrations: a Master of Divinity Degree from Candler School of Theology and a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Saint Paul School of Theology. I attended my first MWAW in 2018. It was a wonderful experience. I loved being at Lake Junaluska and found the worship and workshops to be informative and inspirational. In the years since, I have not felt welcomed as a person of color or a pastor. As the Vice President of Community, I have ideas for building community through inclusivity and increasing membership. I am organized, able to manage my time well, always seeking the best techniques to be efficient and effective in handling responsibilities including embracing technology. I am also innovative. As a pastor, I believe I have honed the skills to recruit and retain volunteers/servant leaders by equipping, empowering, and encouraging; making sure they have the resources they need to achieve their tasks, promoting team building, and celebrating their efforts. These skills will be beneficial for working with the Chapter and Membership Coordinators to enhance and promote The Fellowship.

Rev. Todd Pick

Current Ministry and Setting: Co-pastor of Revive United Methodist Church, Azle, TX For more than twenty years, I have enjoyed participating in Fellowship events, contributing to WorshipArts, and collaborating on various worship design teams for both Convocation and Music and Arts Week. With a background in graphic design and illustration, my pastoral ministry has always included the visual arts. My M.Div from Drew Theological School allowed me to explore the intersections of theology, aesthetics, creativity, and beauty – all of which have shaped my identity as pastor, poet, and painter. I have always valued The Fellowship for all the mentors who have shown me how the arts and ministry within my own calling are not separate, but rather an integrated whole. Having crafted worship for many United Methodist conferences across the country, I have had the privilege of working alongside many gifted worship artists. This important work of planning and executing multi-sensory worship requires our artistry. Whether in a local church setting of 15 or a large conference gathering of 5,000, the words we sing, pray, and say in worship matter; the images we put on our screens and bulletin covers matter; the way our bodies are engaged in ritual or movement matter. I believe that we, as The Fellowship, have the potential to create content that is not only accessible and usable across many contexts, but that is also aspirational and inspirational to those engaged in this work of making worship happen – Sunday after Sunday, year after year.

Appointments & Additional Nominations

In addition to the board members listed above, the following appointments will be made by the Executive Board, in consultation with the Nominations Committee following the election. These appointments will be made to ensure diversity on the entire Board, particularly as related to ethnicity and gender.

Fellowship members have the right to make additional nominations. If additional names are added to the slate from the membership, these names, along with the names above, will comprise the final ballot.

Confirm that your nominee is willing to serve in one of the specific offices listed above. Descriptions of the offices can be found HERE
Enlist at least 25 members to send a statement of support for your nominee. These statements of support must be emailed to j.thomas.taylor@gmail.com These statements must be received no later than April 29, 2025.

Voting will be available on our website beginning in May.
